I wanted to list ebay auctions in the sidebar of this blog and because I could not find an appropriate plugin I dit it myself. Have a look at the right sidebar … it works ;-)

There are other solutions for integrating ebay auctions in your site like eBay To Go™ or the ebay partner program affilinet, but if you just want to list your sales, you might want to go with my plugin.
The plugin can be either used as a Sidebar Widget or it can be integrated manually.
Please have a look at the README and report errors and suggestions to me if you have any.

The Ebay Sales Lister is a plugin that lets you display a list of ebay sales in the sidebar of your WordPress blog.
== Description ==
The Ebay Sales Lister is a WordPress plugin that lets you display a list of ebay auctions/sales on your WordPress blog.
Your ebay auctions will be presented with their title, the remaining time and the current bid in the sidebar of your blog.
Therefore you will need to use a WordPress theme that provides you with a sidebar. (Note: You can of course display the ebay auctions for any ebay username, so it does not necessarily have to be yours.)== Installation ==
1. Download the plugin zip file (you’ve likely already done this)
2. Extract it in the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory of your Wordpress installation. Afterward, you should have a folder structure like this: `wp-content/plugins/ebay-sales-lister/`.
3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
4. Configure the plugin:
* With Sidebar Widgets:
Just drag & drop the Ebay Sales Lister to your sidebar and fill out the configuration options.
* Without Sidebar Widgets:
Go to Settings -> “Ebay Sales Lister” and configure the plugin.
Add this PHP function call to the place (probably in your sidebar) where you want the ebay auctions to be displayed:listEbaySales("all")
5. Check your blog to see if it works.Configuration Options
* Title:
The title to be displayed above the ebay auctions in the sidebar.
* Ebay Username:
Your ebay login/username, e.g. “airness_de” in my case.
* Ebay Website:
The ebay website on which your auctions are listed.
This value is used to create the links to your articles so make sure you provide the correct value here.
Please contact me if the ebay website that your are using is not listed here, so that I can add it.
* Articles:
The number of auctions you want to display.
The plugin will of course never display more articles than you have actually running on ebay.
You can select one of the options “all”,”10″,”5″ or “3″.
NOTE: Be careful with using option “all” as this might slow down your blog a lot if you list a
lot of articles at ebay.
* Time Format:
Choose if you want to display the time the item ends on (option: “end time”) or
the remaining time for this article (option: “time remaining”).
* Language:
Choose the language to be displayed.
NOTE: If you would like to add any new language just contact me and provide me with the needed words.
* Link Mode:
You can choose which part of the ebay auction information in the sidebar should be used as link, that will
bring the user the to respective ebay auction. The available auctions are “Only Title” and “All Text”.Release History

Yes, it does. Every time the plugin is displayed, it has to download a site from ebay to extract the sales. Thats why your site loads a little bit slower.
= No articles are displayed although I currently have articles running at ebay. =
Please report your Ebay Username and plugin configuration settings. It is probably a problem with a different layout of you local ebay website.
= I see obscure characters in my article titles. =

It is a spanish site that to list plugins. But it requires a login to view the content … kind of a bad idea. So you will not be able to view this:

you have to find line 260 in ebaySalesLister.php which is
$out .= "<a href='$sale->link'>$sale->title</a><br>";
and replace it with
$out .= "<a href='$sale->link' target='_blank'>$sale->title</a><br>";
That should do the trick. Please let me know if that works for you and please post your the url to your blog so others can see it, too.

Can you add an option in the admin to add in your eBay affiliate ID if you want to list other auctions through their affiliate program, etc.? Also, what about configuration for thumbnails?

da ich der englischen Sprache nicht so mächtig bin, schreibe ich Dir mal auf deutsch.
Es geht mir um Dein WP Plugin Ebay Sales Lister, zu dem ich eine kleine Nachfrage habe. Ich weiss, dass das Teil SALES Lister heisst. Aber wie wäre es mit einer Anpassung zu einem FAVORITE ITEM Lister?
Wenn man mit diesem Tool die Angebote eines Verkäufers listen kann, sollte man doch auch Produkte nach Stichwort listen können. Mit ebay To Go kann man so etwas zwar machen, aber leider nicht so simpel und schick als Element in der Sidebar wie mit Deinem Plugin.
Mit phpBay Lite (www.wiredstudios.com) gibt es so etwas ähnliches, allerdings nicht in die Sidebar integrierbar und nur mit Zugriff auf ebay.com und nicht auf ebay.de.
Siehst du eine Möglichkeit, ein derartiges Plugin zu programmieren bzw. den WP Plugin Ebay Sales Lister entsprechend zu modifizieren?

erst mal: sehr cooles plugin…..wenn’s denn funktioniert ;-) ich habe es bei mir installiert, aber finde im admin-bereich nirgendwo die möglichkeit, das dingens einzustellen - benutze nicht die widgets. unter “einstellungen” ist es nicht und unter “verwalten” auch nicht. kannst du mir helfen? wäre cool :)

I have tried to use your ebay lister plugin, and it shows up fine on my site. When I click on a link, it takes me to the ebay listing that is in another language. It shows it’s going to ebay.de. I need it to go to ebay.com (US site). How do I fix this?

not working with wp 2.6 :(
Have tested with a fresh install of wp 2.6 and is working fine. Must have been a plugin incompat issue somewhere.
I got two messages regarding problems with using the plugin for the ebay.com website. I am pretty sure that this was working before but maybe there is a problem with the most current wp version.
I will look into this problem as soon as possible. If you send me a bug report please make sure to mention your WP version in the mail. thx

Could you please help me, with a small problem? In your script, the “title” is formated with H2-Tags. This shows the headline very big in my blog. (Please have a look)
When I edit the script and use H3-Tags I get a “fatal error” for the plugin and wordpress deactivate it.
Do you have an idea?

Hi,
I just found your plugin this weekend, and installed it. Running WP 2.6.3. Dir is upped to /plugins/, and it shows up in the plugins list, both unactivated and activated. However, I don’t see any reference either in Settings or Manage of the blog, for Ebay Sales Lister, so I can configure the options.
Any ideas what might be going on? I’ve tried both IE7 and FF3, and don’t think it’s a browser issue.

Like the readme said, I want my auctions on their own page not the side bar.
The part I am strung up at, I guess, is at 2.6 there is no way that I see to do this: Go to Options -> Ebay Sales Lister and configure the plugin.

I really think the affiliate number would make a huge difference. You could even have a generosity option, were a certain percent of the time it goes to your affiliate number. You basically seem to have the market cornered, for sidebars. One other guy’s works with sidebars, but he only allowed Papperjam numbers. I am honestly, thinking of changing you code, but I don’t know much about PHP, and I mainly trying to finish this WP site, I am working on.

Hi, it queries the ebay API every time, so you will always have to most up to date ebay information displayed on your blog.
Do you have a specific reason for asking? Any performance concerns?

great stuff, indeed. I am just trying to adjust the code, so the browser opens a new window by clicking an auction. (I hate losing visitors - they are MINE…)
You gave a hint above, but there is no such passage in the code I have. I have been trying to add a target=”_blank” here or there, but it only caused fatal errors (which I hate even more than losing visitors).
Any idea?

The plugin has one undocumented option which however may be very useful: Ebay API allows to list more that 1 seller within a single query, so you may specify more than 1 seller name in the plugin settings, comma-separated like: ‘Seller1,seller2,seller3′. In this case the plugin will show items from all three sellers at once!

Is this considered a plugin for folks well-versed in the basics of web programming? I don’t know what an API call is. When I tried to replace your username with mine, and use “http://my.ebay.com” I think I went terribly wrong as the plugin de-activated. I would like to replace the variables and make it work but this might be tricky for me- are all of the replacements tipped of with the “TODO” phrase? If I am too new for this just tell me to move on. I’m just setting up a new project, and would like to modify the plugin slightly for my needs. I am placing the code in the page template, using the php call.
Could you please provide some advice on the following:
1. Where in the plugin’s PHP code can I make the “Ends:” bold
2. Similarly, how do I change the “Price” to “Current bid”, and also make this bold. I would also like to add a “$” sign before the price.
3. Finally, I’d like to add a “Bid now” hyperlink beneath the price - how do I do this?

I tried to configure the widget the way that you specified but I don’t understand what the ebay website is. no matter what I change it to, it always goes back to A (U), what does this mean?
When I click on the autions tab nothing happens, and it will not allow me to input any data there

Hi, I’m trying to integrate this into my WordPress blog (Version 2.8.5) to promote my eBay Store or general eBay listings. However, I keep getting the following message when I place the widget in the sidebar and the view it: “Currently no sales for gamesogre”. I have up 600+ listings, so there are certainly listings up.
