30000 Spams and Counting

I made a knot in my toe not to forget to write about it when it happens but still …

About a week ago my blog reached the Akismet spam count of 30.000 (you can find the current number at the bottom of the right sidebar by the way.) A “proud” number but where does all that spam come from? I can only agree to the numbers from the official Akismet Zeitgeist that you see on the left: More than 84% of the comments are spam. In my case even worse. There are about 100 comments I don’t consider spam, including my replies what results in 99.6% spam on my blog. That is awful. I hope I will at least receive more non spam comments in the future to make that percentage look a bit more friendly because my hopes that spam will become less are vanishingly low.

On another note:
If somebody feels like I did not reply to her/his question or comment, the spam could be the reason. About every time I check the comments on this blog I have more than 200 news spam comments, so I can only glance over them and not really do a manual check. If you want to make sure that I get it: Just send an email.

Thanks to Akismet for freeing me from the headache of getting rid of all the spam by hand!!!
